motorcycles, leather and denim where you can be amoungst more bikes than you"ve ever seen.ч
Sturgis has been the place for one of the world"s largest annual Bike rally"s that happen. This quaint location in South Dakota
is the location anually. This year"s event is scheduled from August 9-15, 2010. This year they celebrate 70 years running.
ч
The traffic coming and going around South Dakota ramps up as early as couple weeks before the Rally starts and it goes on
to be crazy for 14 days after the event.

When this gathering started back in 1938 it started out as a biker gathering over the weekend with a couple of dozen bikers
holding a couple events that included half mile races, jumps and things like that. The Sturgis Rally has grown incredibly since
then. It was first coordinated by the Jackpine Gypsies Motorcycle club but now the Event takes the efforts of everyone in
Sturgis (approximate population 6,000) as well as hundreds of vendors coming to town to help put this whole thing together .
ч
They still hold some of the original events and they have added a lot of others since the beginning such as motocross races,
hill climbs for the professional and amateur. They even have drag races down Main Street.
ч
Where else can you camp with a couple hundred thousand friends. I"ve heard you need to plan well in advace of the event to
make sure you have a spot to camp. The lazy mans way of camping is available. Someone setting up your campsite for you
in advance of you showing up. That means your tent and equipment needed to camp there and all you do is show up and
have a good time. They then take the tent down after. It"s like your mama looking after you! There"s just no room service.
ч
There are many food and souvenir vendors that come in for the Rally . These suppliers open booths and shops that sell
everything from custom motorcycle parts to tattooing. Some of the more popular things to do at Sturgis 2010 are just hang
around Main Street and take in all the sights and sounds of the people and motorcycles. There are thousands and thousands
of bikes and the population of Sturgis is estimated to be over 500,000 during the Event .
ч
Surrounding the Sturgis area there are many activities that you can enjoy or sites to see. The attractions you can easily get to
are sites such as Mount Rushmore (62 Miles), Crazy Horse Memorial (67 Miles) and Deadwood (13 Miles). These distances
are approximate but you get the idea . Make sure to take time to enjoy the area around the Event.

The Sturgis Rally 2010 will be a great time you won"t want to miss. You"ll hear the sound of thousands of growling engines and
smell the smell of exhaust and see the glimmer of thousands of feet of chrome. You won"t want to miss it.
